Worth a mention but not a worry. Have been going South for months and months now - irregular visits not every day or week! Had not problems apart from the normal having to get a TOM valid for 16 hours each time - not on Sundays of course - but today was informed, on the way back into the North that I can only come into the South for 90 days in any 180.

Normally the person checking passports is a police person in uniform but today the lady was in civilian clothing and I have never seen her at that crossing point before. Think she was either standing in for somebody else or had just finished training or maybe works in another department and had a day of job change. She was quite nice to talk to but first wanted to know where my tourist visa was in my passport - told her I have lived in the North for 20 years at which point she told me that it was "The Law" about the 90 days. I asked how many days I had already accrued out of the 90 days so I would know when to stop coming but could not get an answer to that question apart from - we will know and tell you when you can't come anymore!

Probably just a one off or maybe its part of the Schengen rubbish they are going for now - who knows but worth passing on the info. Last words from me were "Well if I can't come across for 90 days then I will shop in the North, your loss not mine"!! I have known about the 90/180 ever since it started but it has not been put into practise of late, any country that will willingly reduce it's income for 180 days a year needs to rethink it's law I think - law.

This happened to us in January, normally its just a quick scan this time, she opened the computer to check how many times we had gone through, banned for 90 days.

Yeah. Been like that for years.
I agree ..its madness as cutting their own throat.
Been here 23 years. Cant pass until end August.
